How To Make Mulled Apple Juice

At this time of year I sometimes go a little wild, normally a tea-totaller last year I drank three mulled ciders over the festive season.  Well I always think mulled cider would taste nicer without the alcohol.   So… mulled apple juice!

I used:

  • 500ml (ish) of apple juice
  • A cinnamon stick
  • 2/3 of an orange
  • A few cloves
  • Star Anise

I put the cinnamon stick, the cloves, and slices of orange in a pan, then poured in the apple juice.  I would have also put in the star anise but boyfriend doesn’t like anniseed (madness!) so I just the star anise in my mug.

I turned up the heat and simmered for about 5mins (may have accidentally boiled over at one point…).  Then ladeled into my mugs.  It was pretty good.  Next time I would add more of the cloves, cinnamon, and star anise to the pan to give it a bit more oomf.
